Bollywood stars and sportspersons desiring to join politics at the time of elections is nothing new. In the last Lok Sabha elections too, many popular personalities tried a hand at politics. Manoj Tiwari, Smriti Irani, Jayaprada, Rajyavardhan Rathore, Chetan Chauhan, Babul Supriyo, Javed Jaffrey, etc. are some names which have earned quite a lot of fame and popularity, and hence are capable of gathering a large crowd just by the mention of their names.

Now when the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections are around the corner, the same pattern is being repeated again. BJP has very conveniently used many celebrities for victory in 2014, and Congress is planning to do the same this year.
Recently, Urmila Matondkar, Ramya Mohan, Sri Santh, etc. have joined Congress. And we can’t deny that Congress is going to get the advantage of it.
History tells us that winning elections for those who are from sports and entertainment background is not very difficult.
So to answer your question in one line, actors and actresses joining politics do affect the results of the elections.
