Microsoft, a famous American Multinational IT company, was founded in April 1975 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. With a 43 year long glorious history the company is still a leading name in the IT market.

This multi million dollar international organization was founded by two childhood friends Bill Gates and Paul Allen. Both of them held a dream of building a business organization in order to utilize their shared knowledge in Computer Programming. This led to the formation of a company named Traf-O-Data which majorly dealt in the dealing of rudimentary computers. Later, Gates enrolled at harvard and Allen at Washington State University. The Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems's (MITS) Altair 8800 microcomputer, inspired the two to program a BASIC interpreter for the same device.

After a lot of hard work from both youngsters they were only able to develop interpreter on a simulator and not the actual device. Yet it worked flawlessly and the two officially founded Microsoft, the name being suggested by Allen.

5 years later Microsoft entered the line of operating Systems (OS) with its own version of Unix and Xenix. the company' position was consolidated by formation of MS-DOS. In 1985, Microsoft released Microsoft Windows, a graphical extension for MS-DOS along with moving its headquarters to Redmond in 1986 and going public in the same year. The stocks of Microsoft started surging high and reached an all time high soon. The further developments like releasing office suites and upgraded Windows 3.0 led to capturing of new markets and increased profits. Microsoft's constant attempt to better itself and a strong foresight has led to the name it is today.
