How can it be? UGC had been taking quite a lot of doubt-worthy decisions recently and this one certainly tops the list. Out of 11 Greenfield universities which applied for the covetous status of “institute of eminence”, only the one owned by Reliance group made it to the list.

The Education Minister himself states that, “The #InstituteofEminence are important for the country We have 800 univ, but not a single university in top 100 or even 200 in the world ranking. Today's decision will help achieve this.” It is beyond the comprehension of every sane Indian mind that how can an institution help in the educational progress even before existing.

How can even this university stand along the prestigious institutions like IIT Delhi and Mumbai, BITS Pilani, and IISc Bangalore? These universities have taken decades to reach the status which Jio University has achieved even before getting started.

The Education Minister, Prakash Javadekar may say whatever he has to, to pacify the turbulence that has been created by the decision, but he can’t veil what the people have already seen. The favor that Mukesh and Anita Ambani has gotten from the BJP government yet again. And if this is true, then no policy can upgrade the Indian Education system.
