In the recent Sri Lanka blasts, the harm was done to the Christian religious buildings and other public infrastructures. To name a few, there were Shangri –La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand Hotels; and St Anthony’s Church, St. Sebastian’s Church, and the Zeon Church where the blasts took place.
All these blasts were suicide bombs and the suicide bombers are said to be from an Islamist
Extremist Group. The group is called National Tawheed Jamath (NTJ), and the day chosen for the blasts was that of Easter Sunday.
So obviously, the reasons behind the blasts were communal and religious.
Sri Lankan Government’s spokesperson and Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne told that all the seven suicide bombers were Sri Lankan only and they could be having some international support.
All other Muslim groups and political parties condemned the act and blamed the government for not taking action despite getting the intelligence report. Many Indians were also killed in the attacks.
