Since the 3rd ODI of India vs. England, rumors had it that Captain M S Dhoni is taking retirement as he took the ball from the Umpire after the match in Leeds. No one could predict any other reason for this action of the Indian Captain. And no one could imagine how much far-sighted our Captain Cool can be.
He recently revealed the reason for taking the ball home from the pitch of England, and that has put his strategies and preparations for the next year’s Cricket World Cup on display.
This is what M S Dhoni told ICC-cricket.com, as NDTV sports reported:
"After 50 overs, the ball is useless to the ICC, so I requested the umpire for the ball and gave it to our bowling coach and said we need to work on it so that we can get a bit of reverse swing going. That will help the fast bowlers get those yorkers or wickets towards close or after the 40-over mark. That will help us restrict the opposition in the last 10 overs," the Ranchi stalwart explained.”
Since the next year’s World Cup is on M S Dhoni’s mind, he doesn’t want to leave any page upturned in the preparations. After losing the three ODIs series against England, Captain Dhoni wants to improve his team’s bowling by preparing with the kind of ball they are going to get in the World Cup.
