In Vishnu Dashavtar there is one symbol called "Varaha" which you are apparently befuddling with Lord Ganesha's head. "Varaha" in Sanskrit signifies "Hog"; Lord Vishnu is known to be defender of Earth and he has taken manifestations in various "yoni" or species to save the earth any place it was required. Varaha symbol dates in antiquated age when even people were not there and earth was in maturing stage and the Boar to save the earth took the over its noses to save from the unevenness.
