It’s obvious. Now that a long era of Ronaldo-Messi dominance in football has ended, the pseudo-fans want at least something to raise hell upon. The whole world is as much aware of the arch-rivalry of the Portugal and the Argentinian football players, as they are of their dominance. Their rivalry is no less than India-Pakistan in the world cricket.
In such scenario, Lionel Messi nominating Cristiano Ronaldo for Fifa player of the year award, along with Croatian Luka Modric and French Kylian Mbappe was much unexpected and respectable as well. Messi truly showed the sportsperson spirit, hands down. He himself, breaking the streak of 12 long years, did not even get selected in the top three nominations in which Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo had a place.
Instead of reveling in all these good things happening in the world of football however, the pseudo fans are more worried about Messi nominating Ronaldo, but Ronaldo not having a heart big enough to do so. Obviously, they just won’t count the poor performative year that Messi has had, while playing with both his country and his club.
