Pakistan is being bashed from all over the globe for the recent Pulwama Attack, whose mastermind was Jaish e Mohamed chief, Masood Azhar. India retaliated with the Surgical Strike 2.0, and Twitter was flooded with the reports of the Pulwama Attack mastermind’s death. The hashtag #MasoodAzharDEAD did rounds on Twitter, and India rejoiced.

The latest news from the unknown sources, however, tells that Masood Azhar is still alive and is undergoing treatment in Pakistani Army Hospital.

In the backdrop of all this, the question about Pakistan’s stand on the JeM chief seems quite relevant, and important to answer.

Of all we know, Pakistan has always opposed the blacklisting of Masood Azhar in the United Nations Security Council, and in this, the nation had always had the support of its veto-holding ally, China. It has happened twice that China has vetoed against the declaration of Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. In its last statement on the Pulawama Attack too, China answered the question of the blacklisting of JeM chief quite diplomatically.

The mastermind behind the Parliament Attack in 2001, the attack in Pathankot in 2016, and the recent Pulwama Attack, however, seems like losing his support from the Pakistani Government.

We all know how much pressurized Pakistan is right now. Even after the attack in Kashmir, it got negative reactions from the nations like the UK, the USA, and France. And its violation of the Geneva Convention after IAF’s Air Strike intensified the pressure on the nation.

So now to maintain its global reputation, of whatever is left of it, Pakistan has reportedly decided to withdraw its opposition of the blacklisting of Masood Azhar from the UNSC. Pakistan even dubbed the return of Indian Air Force’s wing commander Abhinandan as an initiative of peace between the two neighboring rivals, India and Pakistan, hiding the global pressure it is going through right now.

This should be noted that Pakistan’s decision of withdrawing its opposition came after it had declared that Azhar has no connection with the Pulwama Attack. So sensing any genuinneness (or truth) in this stand of Pakistan is quite difficult.
