Being a college student is expensive owing to the fees, food, and books, and a number of other things. These costs are only rising with time. If you are looking for a laptop, then it only adds to that cost. So does this mean that you should settle for a cheap laptop? I would say not because chances are that you will take up more time in getting things done on it because it will not be up to the mark. However, you cannot afford to buy an expensive one either. Thus, you need to strike a balance between the price and performance.

Here are thus a few of the laptops which can consider. Remember, you do not have to stick to this list for buying a laptop but the one that you do buy should ideally be on similar lines in terms of specifications and performance -

Hauwei Matebook X Pro

It has a 13.9-inch 3000X2000p screen with an LED touch panel. On the inside is 16 GB RAM, Intel Core i7 processor and Intel UHD 620 graphics and Nvidia GeForce GPU which means you will never feel underpowered working on this machine. It is one of the most powerful Windows laptop at a good price range. On the downside, it does not have an SD card slot.

Dell XPS 13

Dell is known for providing good-quality laptops and having a wide distribution and after-sales network. Depending on the model you choose, you get either an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. RAM capacity can range from 4 to 16GB with the internal storage between 128GB to 1TB SSD. The highlight of this Dell laptop, apart from the performance, is the display whose resolution begins at 1920X1080p and can go up to 3840X20160p.

Should you want to buy any of these laptops and want to get them financed, you should check out the EMI Network Card which helps in converting your purchase amount of up to Rs. 4 lakhs into instalments.

HP 15 series is possibly a great budget-mid-range laptop for students in India, as well as for working professionals.

HP Notebook 15 ay511tx is a perfect choice, in particular. On Amazon and Flipkart, with discounts, you can easily purchase this laptop at less than Rs 30,000. The microprocessor is Intel Core i3, which is the best in this price range. For light work, including browsing and working with Microsoft products, it performs pretty great. Additionally, it has 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA Hard Drive—an awful lot of space to store media files, from music to movies.

So, yes, if you’re looking for a budget laptop for students in India, HP Notebook 15 ay511tx is your go-to. It has adequate features. It would last decently long enough until you’re ready to buy a newer laptop.

Dell Inspiron 15-3567 in a good choice as well. One of the best things that I totally love about Dell laptop is its longevity. Its overall construction is very sturdy. It’s solid—so even if you drop it a few times, your laptop will remain safe. Another incredible thing about Dell laptops is the battery’s life. It can last for as long as 10 hours on a consistent use. So, you can also go for DELL Inspiron 15-3567. The specifications are fair. It is sure bulky. But in performance, you can expect consistency and reliability. You can purchase this at around Rs 32,000.

These are two of the best budget laptops for students in India that strike a perfect balance between quality and price.

Of course, there are many other options. For instance, Lenovo, Micromax, Acer, and HP offer many cheap varieties and versions. But I wouldn’t trust their quality. One of the worst things for students (and professionals) is to have a laptop that loads very slowly and crashes all the time.

Hope the answer helps. Happy purchase! :)
