According to a recent study, chemical used in food wrappers are the same kind of that uses in non- stick pan coatings. These chemicals are knowns as Perfluoroalkyl (PFASs) substances and they have been linked with cancer, hormone imbalance, immune weakness, high cholesterol and obesity.
Such chemicals increase body weight by slowing your metabolism, especially in women, US researchers said. Due to slow metabolism rate the food molecules take longer time to breakdown than usual time and that may lead to obesity, too.
Some researchers also found that PFASs are also known as “obesogens” because they hinder the body weight regulation system which does slow metabolic rate. People with higher levels of PFASs in their blood had more slower metabolism rate even after weight loss.
A study showed that PFASs have been around for 60 years and they have contaminated drinking water. They can easily accumulate in drinking water and stay for long time in the body.
