Once-in-a generation genius, Professor Stephen Hawking who passed away recently at the age of 76 at his home in Cambridge, England was a living legend in the field of physics.
He was very famous for his research on black holes and relativity that changed the way we see and study the universe. The author of A Brief History of Time proposed many theoretical scientific discoveries throughout his life.
However, all his work hard work and research on theoretical physics couldn’t help him in winning the most prestigious award in the field of physics, Nobel Prize.
The answers is not rocket science and is very clear. Theoretical scientific discoveries have to be confirmed by observational data before there’s a possibility of winning a Nobel Prize. And it’s somewhat difficult to observe a black hole.
It takes years and years to build the scientific equipment to test theoretical discoveries. Einstein’s theory of gravitational waves in space that he first proposed in the late 1920s got proved in 2016.Hawking never won a Nobel prize but was a genius scientist who left so much behind for science.
