Do you think girls need reservations at IIT?

The India Institutes of Technology have decided to admit more girls from the 2018 session and I think this is probably just another lame solution to increase the population of females at IITs. The number of girls are not less due to lack of seats but it is due to the lack of encouragement and not spending a single penny on their coaching of IIT JEE in the first place.

Around 8.8% women were admitted to IITs in 2014, and the figure went up to 9% in 2015, but in 2016 it came down to 8%. IITs are concerned by the decrease in number of female students entering IITs, but they are not concerned about the ground realities.

I have seen some girls with less than 9 CGPA in 10th standard don't go for science because their parents think, science is only for boys and on the other hand I have seen guys with 7–8 CGPA fight over streams with the school authorities.

Girls don't need reservation, all they need is encouragement by their parents. It is one of the prime reasons that those who are interested could not qualify for IITs. They are capable of doing anything, if they are encouraged to have extra coaching, then we would witness more girls in IITs for sure.
