There are a lot of factors that affect our fertility status. Men and women have different reasons for their problems related to fertilization and one of them is that of age. Age of men and women affect their fertility status differently.

Men:

According to infertility experts, fertility rate of men in their thirties has increased since 1980s and has gone up to 21%. For men whose age is less than 40, the fertility rate has increased to 30%. While the fertility rate in men less than 30 years of age has decreased to 15%.

According to an infertility expert, Dr. Meenakshi Dua, “there is an association between age of the male partner and the incidence of birth defects, chromosomal abnormalities and higher psychiatric disorders like autism, schizophrenia”.

Women:

According to Dr. Meenakshi Dua, in women, it is harder to get pregnant after 35 years of age and there is a higher risk of miscarriage and genetic problems. Another doctor, Sandeep Talwar tells that women are most fertile in their 20s and the chances of conceptions are extremely low once a woman enters her 40s.
