Tata Consultancy Services recently started forcing employees to resign and till now the count of employees who resigned exceeded 500 which is a huge figure. There may be certain valid reasons to take such a serious decision.
Employees having an experience between 2-3 years were asked to resign. But not the freshies or trainees having no experience at all. Also, it was mentioned in the official statement of TCS to carry out this resigning process to eliminate the non-performers or not-eligible employees from the company once in two years for the overall growth of the company. Among 1,08,000 employee strength, 500-600 employees were asked to resign from their posts. TCS undergoes an appraisal cycle where employees have to pass all the stages to be in the company. The appraisal cycle process runs in a way that, in the first stage the employee has to score a grade of a minimum of 2 or better than that. If any employee failed to do so, they are given pieces training and extra assignments on projects, and their performance is observed. Also, a placement cell has been created so that the resigned employees get placed in other companies or organizations. If the grade is not more than 2 after the second appraisal then the employee has to resign. The maximum and minimum grade required in the appraisal cycle process is 5 and 2 respectively.
So, a good and consistent performance is required in TCS. TCS doesn’t easily ask its employees to resign but if the performance is poor continuously and not up to the mark then, they are forced to resign indirectly giving the whole process a name, and appraisal cycle.
