Selena Gomez’s life was turned upside down when she got to know that she had Lupus –an autoimmune disease under which one’s immune system start attacking their own organs and tissues. As the disease is incurable, she opted for chemotherapy to control the symptoms of Lupus.

As a result Gomez started living two lives –one of a Lupus patient, and other of a celebrity living a life of denial and refusing to accept her condition. She kept her mental condition a secret for 3 years, and in the meanwhile, she never quit her career for rest and treatment whatsoever.

She was unable to ignore the symptoms for long however, and they started showing up even more, and the situation took the form of depression for Selena. She suffered from anxiety and panic attacks due to Lupus.

It was only after she was told by doctors that she needed an emergency transplant that she took a break from her career and started paying attention on her mental health. It was a shock for her because on this transplant depended her survival.

It was all depression and devastation until she broke the news to her best friend Francia. Francia then, opposing her mother’s advice, got tested as a donor and decided to be her best friend’s savior. Francia even prepared her will before the surgery in case of any tragic mishappening. Despite all her doubts, she was successful in restoring Selena’s faith in life.
