I'm sure you are not hearing the saying for the first time. Since our school days, we have been taught to breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dine like a beggar. Yes, the reasons behind these were seldom told to us.

Researches tell us that the amount of food we eat throughout the day affects not just our health, but our weight as well. In a test, it came out that people who take more amount of calories in the first half of the day than in the second half, are healthier and thinner than the people who do otherwise.

To explain the science behind it, it is observed that body's metabolism is fastest during morning. As the day approaches to an end, the metabolism slows down, and food takes much more time to be digested.

So eating a good, hearty, and wholesome breakfast keeps you fresh and energetic throughout the day as body's metabolic system consumes that food with utmost efficiency.

Today, when everyone is busy living an instant-life, breakfast is mostly taken on grab-and-go basis, and dinner with more peace and calm. But for the sake of your health, this eating arrangement must be reversed. If you dine like a king and breakfast like a beggar, you will be bound to go to bed before your food gets digested properly, which may cause problems like indigestion and gloating.

Hence, when you eat, and in how much amount, is as important as what you eat for your overall health.
