To be fair, it’s a bit complex. Point to note is, regardless how much the franchise pays the players, the players can end up making a lot more by endorsing products and making appearances in events on behalf of their teams.
Now coming directly to your question, there are two types of contracts. One is Basic Contract, which allows the players to take home the money they are bid for. And then the second type is called firm agreement, which offers the players to get a fixed amount from the BCCI. And if this fixed amount is less than the bid price, the amount that’s left in between is taken home by BCCI.
Historically, the average money each playergetsis Rs80 lakhs. Also, the governing body has made it mandatory for team owners to spend at least $3.3 million every year for players’ fees, as well as give them$100 per day to every player as daily allowance.
So even if a player is bid low in the auction, don’t assume he’s getting any less amount. $100 per day as allowance, aside from other sources, is just too high when you will compare that to the rest of the professions.
