If you are concerned about your privacy online, then it is a very simple process to switch over to DuckDuckGo. It will take you a couple of days to get used to the search engine, but after that it will be much easier for you. Since you’re already familiar with Google, the natural transition would be to just switch over and not worry too much about it. You can just continue using the same accounts that you have for Gmail/YouTube/etc., and move forward from there.
