How to Set Yahoo as Your Homepage (Every Browser, Step by Step)

Setting Yahoo as your homepage means your browser opens straight to Yahoo's search bar, news feed, mail shortcuts, and weather widget every time you launch it. The exact steps depend on which browser you're using, since Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari all bury this setting in slightly different menus.

Here's the walkthrough for each one:

Set Yahoo as Homepage in Google Chrome

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right corner and open Settings

  2. On the left sidebar, select On startup

  3. Under "On startup," select Open a specific page or set of pages

  4. Select Add a new page, enter https://www.yahoo.com, and select Add

Note: Chrome hides the actual Home button by default, and separates it entirely from the startup setting above. If you want a clickable Home icon next to the address bar that also goes to Yahoo, go to Settings, and under "Appearance," turn on Show Home button. Then, under "Show Home button," choose a custom page rather than the New Tab page, and enter https://www.yahoo.com.

Set Yahoo as Homepage in Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the menu icon (three horizontal lines) and go to Settings

  2. Select Home from the sidebar

  3. Next to Homepage and new windows, open the dropdown and choose Custom URLs

  4. Enter https://www.yahoo.com in the field that appears

Note: Firefox applies this to both new windows and the Home button (once you've added it to your toolbar), so there's no separate step needed for that.

Set Yahoo as Homepage in Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the three dots in the top-right and open Settings

  2. Go to Start, home, and new tabs in the left menu

  3. Under When Edge starts, select Open these pages

  4. Click Add a new page, enter https://www.yahoo.com, and confirm

Note: To also make the physical Home button (next to the address bar) open Yahoo, stay on that same settings page, scroll to the

Home button section, switch on Show Home button on the toolbar, then enter the Yahoo URL in the field that appears there.

Set Yahoo as Homepage in Safari (Mac)

  1. Open Safari, click Safari in the top menu bar, and select Settings

  2. Click the General tab

  3. In the Homepage field, enter https://www.yahoo.com

  4. Set New windows open with and New tabs open with to Homepage if you want Yahoo to load automatically rather than just being available via the Home shortcut

Note: Safari on iPhone and iPad doesn't support a true custom homepage setting. The closest option is bookmarking Yahoo and adding it to your home screen as a shortcut.
