According to me, I would probably use all three sorting options depending on the mood and type of playlist, and that is exactly why this update feels so useful for YouTube Music users.

Sorting by Artist

This is honestly the feature I would use the most. When playlists become huge, songs from the same artist get scattered everywhere, making listening feel messy. Sorting by artist makes it easier to:

  • Binge one artist’s music

  • Discover forgotten songs

  • Keep playlist flow organized

For example, if I suddenly want a full The Weeknd or Taylor Swift phase, this sorting option becomes super convenient.

Sorting by Album

According to me, album sorting is perfect for people who actually enjoy listening to projects the way artists intended them. Some albums are designed to feel like one complete experience rather than random songs mixed together.

This option is especially useful for:

  • Concept albums

  • Old-school rock albums

  • Hip-hop projects

  • Late-night listening sessions

It makes playlists feel more intentional and less chaotic.

Sorting by Title

This one may sound basic, but honestly it becomes surprisingly useful when playlists get massive. If you have thousands of saved songs, alphabetical sorting makes finding tracks much faster without endless scrolling.

I think this option is especially helpful for:

  • Workout playlists

  • Downloaded libraries

  • Large liked-song collections

Why This Update Matters So Much

According to me, the funny part is that these are features music apps should have had years ago. A lot of YouTube Music users stayed frustrated because playlist management felt far behind apps like:

  • Spotify

  • Apple Music

So now that YouTube Music is finally improving organization tools, people are way more excited than Google probably expected.

Personally, I think I would mainly switch between:

  • Artist sorting for casual listening

  • Album sorting for focused listening

  • Title sorting for quick searching

And honestly, after waiting this long, even simple sorting options somehow feel like a major upgrade.
