As the country is struggling from the second wave of COVID-19, the Education Minister first

He also declared that the exam for class 12th will be conducted in the first week of June. But after looking at the situation of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, May 2021 decided to cancel the exam of class 12th students.

The reports say that the situation of the country is worse because of the spread of coronavirus

and because of which the students should not appear in the exams under such pressure. In

respect to the marking scheme, the government has given various options to the CBSE to

decide upon. As the exams have been cancelled, the concern regarding the admission

procedures in the colleges have come up. Most of the colleges have decided to follow the

instructions given by the government. Likewise, one of the most known and top most college

DU, Delhi University has also agreed to follow the instructions of the government of India. Delhi

University (DU) has decided to take the 'merit' criteria as their key for the admission of the first

year students. The DU is strictly following the merit criterion because of this unforeseen COVID-

19 situations in the county. They have also mentioned that their cut-off will be based on the

marks which will be declared by the CBSE. As the prediction of the third wave in the country is

there, the CUCET has been cancelled and the criterion will be based on the class 12th marks

only. The DU has said that they are committed to the CUCET but as the situation is pandemic,

the exam is of national level and because of rapid growth of cases, many students will not be

able to attend the same. In conclusion they have finalized to follow the CBSE formula and will

declare the cut offs as and when the results come out.
