Is Beyoncé the most expensive performer?
A relevant question to ponder upon, when the world (Indians and foreigners alike) are still facing difficulties to digest that Beyoncé performed at someone’s private party! Mukesh Ambani’s daughter’s wedding taught us that money is the real superstar. Before this, the only association of Beyoncé with India that I was aware of, was the Coldplay's song Hymn of the Weekend.

Anyhow, to answer your question, Beyoncé is not the most expensive or the highest paid performer, that title goes to Jennifer Lopez amongst women singers. She, however, is one of the most expensive performers. Also, she was the world’s highest-earning woman in the music industry in 2017 and ranks no. 38, on the list of Forbes America’s Richest Entrepreneurs Under 40. (Source) And I don’t need to tell you what a sensation she is now, do I?

According to Business Insider, she was one of the top 20 singers, people paid the most to see in 2016. On the list were also Justin Bieber, Drake, Adele, etc, due to which they earned the top Grammy nominations these singers got the following year.

In 2018, Beyoncé had On The Run II Tour with her husband, Jay Z, which was declared a big hit even before it concluded. It is not even something which any Bollywood star can afford at their wedding. Although having a singer perform at private parties is not something that has happened first time in history, there has not been any Indian to do that, when it comes to having a performance by an American singer.
