The Transport Department of India has come come up with this new policy which certainly will help college students in Delhi in commutation and travelling.

Increasing metro fair in Delhi has already forced the students to look for other alternatives of commutation. So the colleges helping us in learning the driving is indeed a great step in the direction of students' welfare.

It's just like the bus pass facility that all the colleges already provide their students.

Delhi traffic is one problem when we think of using private vehicles for going to the educational institutions, and one more problem in the space for parking them.

It is a very positive step on the part of Delhi Government that it is going to start a policy under which a large number of college students will be benefited. After its implementation, college students will be able to get their learner’s driving license from their college itself.

What will be the conditions and the pre-requisites are not clear as of now, but one thing that is clear is that it is not only for the students of University of Delhi but for every college which is situated in Delhi. The policy has been formulated by the Transport Department of Delhi.

According to the Transport Minister, Kailash Gahlot, over 2 lakh students will be benefitted from this new policy.

Right now, most of the college students in Delhi travel either via metro or by DTC buses, the pass of which can be made from the colleges itself. A considerable share of students also use cab services and private transport. The policy will make it easier for students to commute but would it not increase the traffic on already traffic-ridden Delhi roads? Also, after Delhi government’s previous initiatives like No-car day, is it not the discouragement of the usage of public transport?
