10 Architectural Marvels Of SpainEven though the ground-breaking contemporary artists have continued much to the architecture scenario in Spain, one can never deny the history of the combination of aesthetics from the Middle East and Europe. This public park has a staircase that leads to the Doric Temple. The hollow columns here are used as storm drain pipes. The public square is located at the top of the Doric Temple and gives the visitor a bird’s eye view of the Barcelona city.

The Alhambra: Located in Granada, this picturesque complex used to be the largest political center for the Muslim West once upon a time. Burgos Cathedral: This elegant cathedral is known for its outstanding elegance and harmonious architecture. This UNESCO World Heritage site is primarily Gothic in its design. Puerta Del Pedron, the main facade here, embellishes itself with starred rose window and a number of statues of the Castile monarchs. The 84-metre towers adorn the facade on both sides. You must not miss the gorgeous Escalera Dorada which was influenced by the Italian Renaissance.

Alcazar Fortress: Located in the Segovia province, this fortress was built for military purposes and was used by Alfonso VII as a residence as well. The Gothic elegance of this structure was the result of the Spanish influence that the architects brought with themselves during the reign of John II as well as Henry IV. Both the main courtyard as well as the Escuela de Honor building were completed by Juan de Herrera who worked in collaboration with the architect Francisco de Mora.
