Turmeric


The active ingredient in turmeric- Curcumin- offers various medicinal properties. Curcumin boosts bile flow that helps in improving fat digestion. In turn, this reduces the risk of gallstones developing. Moreover, it also helps in reducing cholesterol levels and breaking down the particles responsible for development of gallstones.

One should consume 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of turmeric powder every day. Take turmeric by adding it in the food or mixing it with warm milk or with water and honey. To increase its potency, one can also add some black pepper. The active ingredient of black pepper-piperine- is responsible for its pungency and increases its absorption of curcumin.


Fresh Gruits and Vegetables


To remove toxins from the body, the gallbladder works in collaboration with the liver. Therefore, to prevent the crystallization of cholesterol and calcium and eventually gallstones, the gallbladder and liver need to be detoxified regularly. For detoxification of these organs, eat alkalized fruits and vegetables such as lemons, apples, beets, celery, and tomatoes. You can also drink fresh fruit and vegetable juice. Particularly, unfiltered, raw apple juice contains a high amount of pectin that helps to break down the stones in the gallbladder.


Healthy Fats Foods


Healthy fats- monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fatty acids- reduce the cholesterol level in the body, lowers the risk of gallstones. As the body is unable to produce healthy fats, incorporate foods that are rich in the same. For monounsaturated fat supply, add olive oil to the foods. Include food items such as salmon, lake trout, mackerel, and sardines for the supply of polyunsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.


Coffee


The benefits of consuming gallstones regularly for preventing the formation of gallstones is controversial. People who drink 1-2 cups of coffee daily are said to have a lower risk of gallstones. The effect of caffeine helps to lower the risk of gallstones with its ability to stimulate bile flow. However, coffee is addictive in nature. Hence, beware of getting addicted to the beverage.


Fiber-Rich foods


Dietary food helps in maintaining digestive health and offers protection from various gallbladder diseases including gallstones. According to health experts, the fiber works by enhancing the movement of food through the gut and lowering the production of secondary bile acids. Here is a list of foods that are rich in fiber-
