Talk about hills, valleys, beautiful view of sunrise and sunsets and the exquisite landscapes, Nagaland becomes the dream destination in northeastern India. You feel so close to the nature that would not want to return back. The Hornbill festival has always been the major source of attraction to this place, where you can feel the entire naga culture. It is an ideal platform to have a glimpse of all the eight northeastern states of India. So, you may plan the visit in December month to feel the experience. Among all the Nagaland tourist destinations, here are mentioned some of the best places to visit .

Kohima- If you love trekking and camping, Kohima becomes the must visit place among all the best tourist places in Nagaland. This place is at a height of 1500 m above sea level, so offers you a spectacular view to remember forever. You can visit here the State Museum, World War II Cemetery, Shilloi Lake and the Japfu Peak, Deputy Commissioner’s Bungalow, Naga Bazar and the Kohima Zoo. You can reach here only via the Dimapur airport or the Dimapur railway station. Kohima is indeed a place to be .

Mokokchung- This district offers the visitors magnificent hill ranges, the peaceful village life, and the tribes. You can plan here for the Changkikong Range, Fusen Kei and Mongzu Ki Caves, Langpangkong Caves and the Mokokchung village. If you are looking for ethnic handloom and handicraft, a must visit has to be made to Longkhum. Ungma is another destination in Mokokchung which is said to be a living museum of the Ao tribe. To enjoy the festival time, you may visit a tourist village, Chuchuyimlang, where festivals of AoNagas like Moatsu festival is celebrated in the month of May, and so, you may plan accordingly. NH2 and NH 715 are the national highways passing through Mokokchung.

Dimapur- This is the only place in the state with an airport, so the town becomes an entry point to the state. For the shopping lovers, you can visit Ruzaphema, your one-stop shop. I would suggest visiting Diezephe Craft Village, Chumukedima Village, DimapurAo Baptist Church, Nagaland Science Centre, Green Park, Medziphema and Ruzaphema to have a complete trip. The connectivity is easily available by train, air or by road to Dimapur.

Mon- Mon is one of the interesting, fascinating and best places to visit in Nagaland. I went to a village in Mon district, named Longwa. This place shares a border of Myanmar. So, I actually realized that I can have half of my body in India and another half in Myanmar. Also, you will be amazed to visit the chief’s house, where he resides with his 60 wives. Some of the other exciting places in Mon, which you may visit, are Shangnyu village, Veda peak, and Chui village. You can plan to visit Mon in the month of April to enjoy the harvest festival of KonyakNagas called AoleongMonyu Festival. The festival is celebrated throughout the week.

Wokha- The nature lovers cannot miss the glory of Wokha in Nagaland. This is the perfect place to enjoy the mesmerizing view of hills, orchards, flowers, and rivers. The place homes the Lotha tribe, so you can communicate with the tribal people and see their traditional art and craft. A post-harvest festival is celebrated which is called TokhuEmong Festival in the month of November and this goes on for 9 days. So, this will be the best time to visit Wokha and make your trip a memorable one. Apart from this, you can also visit the places like Liphanyan Governor’s camp, Doyang River, Water pool, Totsu Cliff and the Doyang hydro project.
