Whenever the art of dance will be celebrated then one of the biggest female choreographers whose name will be mentioned on the top of the list would be none other than late Saroj Khan. She was one of the best choreographers of all time who was a master of all dance forms, be it classical or western.

She died at the age of 71 in Mumbai. She passed away due to cardiac arrest. Saroj Khan was suffering from illness and was admitted in hospital since June 24. All are fans are total shock and sorrow. As we just like everyone remember her, here are some of the amazing facts of dancing legend Late Saroj Khan.
• She is known as the “Mother Of Dance” In India which is the rightful title given to her as her mastery was almost in all dance forms ranging from Indian Classical to Western-styled dance forms.
• Her original name is Nirmala Nagpal and she was born on 22 November 1948.
• Saroj Khan began her career just the mere age of 3 as a child artist in the movie “Nazraana”. Eventually, she began her dancing career as a background dancer.
• She got her initial training from the famous choreographer B.Sohanlal and later on, they both got married. At the time of marriage, B. Sohanlal was 41 years old while Saroj Khan was just a 13-year-old girl.
• She got her to break as a choreographer with a movie named “Geeta Mera Naam” however her first successful movie was “Hawa Hawai” from cult-classic movie Mr.India which starred Sridevi and Anil Kapoor.
• It was under Saroj Khan’s choreography that Bollywood divas like Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi got their names as the ultimate dancing queens. Madhuri Dixit considers Saroj Khan as her true dancing coach.
• Her famous and hit songs include “Ek Do Teen” (Tezaab), “Hawa Hawai” (Mr India) ”Dola Re Dola (Devdas)” for which she also received her first national award. She received her second national award for the song “Yeh Ishq Haaye” (Jab We Met) and got her third national award for a Tamil movie.
• She has actively worked in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil etc cinema over a span of more than four decades making her the senior-most choreographer of all time.
• Her last recognized dance song was “Saadi Galli Aaya Karo” from the movie Tanu Weds Manu which starred Kangana Ranaut and R Mahadevan.
• She was the only Indian female choreographer to have worked in Hollywood. She worked in the movie ‘The Gandhi Murder’ starring actor Stephen Lang and Om Puri.
• She had a terrible personal life with a broken marriage and is survived by 2 daughters and one son. She was always known for her sheer smile, discipline, and punctuality in her art of dance. With choreographing more than 2000 songs, more than a dozen awards, and 4-decade long career we have lost a living soul of legend.
