Hockey India today announced forward Rani Rampal as the captain of freshly appointed women’s hockey team for the Vitality Hockey World Cup, to be held in London this July. Hockey India is having fairly high hopes from the new captain and the new team, as reported by HT. The chief coach, Sjoerd Marijne also feels that the team is a good and satisfactory mixture and will perform well in the world cup. Right now the team is working hard for its first match against England on July 21.
The other seventeen members of this 18-member team are:

# Savita and Rajani Etimarpu as goalkeepers, Savita being the vice-captain of the team.
# Sunita Lakra, Deep Grace Ekka, Deepika, Gurjit Kaur, and Reena Khokhar as defenders
# Namita Toppo, Lilima Minz, Monika, Neha Goyal, Navjot Kaur, and Nikki Pradhan as midfielders
# Rani (Captain), Vandana Katariya, Navneet Kaur, Lalremsiami, and Udita as forwards.
