What are the things to consider when buying a split AC?

Blogger | Posted on

Now that summer is here, many people might be thinking of upgrading their old AC and purchasing a newer one. Split ACs offer the convenience of being fitted anywhere in the home, however before zeroing upon one, it is important to consider a few things. After all, it is a long term investment. You might either get a good deal with an AC under 30,000 as per your requirements or will have to shell out more money.

Here are a few pointers to keep in mind:

Split ACs can be either mounted on the wall or floor. Cassette and portable versions are also available. Wall mounted split AC units are usually preferred for homes. You can also go for a portable one if it suits you. Cassette models are suitable for commercial buildings with large spaces such as showrooms etc.

2. Tonnage:

It is important to determine the capacity of the unit as per the room area, flooring, number of windows etc. Hitachi 1 ton 3 star split AC under 30,000 is best for a small room, while a 1.5 ton unit can cool a medium or large room comfortably.

Split ACs in India can cost you anywhere between Rs, 20,000 to 2 lakh. You can compare features and prices online to finalise a model that offers value for money along with superior cooling, durability and other factors.

4. Star ratings:

Even if an is AC under 30,000, you should also look at the BEE star rating. It is wiser to spend more on a higher star unit than go with a cheaper one with less stars. The higher the number of stars, the more energy efficient is the AC and as a result helps you save on electricity bills in the long run.

Apart from the above points, you should also look at the compressor, noise levels, swing capacity, temperature control, sleep mode and other factors before making the final choice.
