A choking hazard is any object that could be accidentally inhaled into the throat, blocking the airway. When an object blocks someone's airway, they are unable to breathe. This can lead to suffocation and death. The substances which are considered as choking hazards, provide prevention tips for parents and caregivers, and tell you what you should do if your child begins to choke on something.

Chunks of meat, cheese or raw vegetables. Popcorn, pretzels, hard chips such as potato chips or corn chips are some examples of choking hazards.
