The website was founded by Gabriel Weinberg in 2008 as an alternative to Google. In January 2017, DuckDuckGo reached 10 million searches per day.[14] In December 2016 it had been reported by comScore that DuckDuckGo amassed 2.35 million unique visitors in November 2016.[15]
As of April 2018, the company is valued at US$1 billion (GBP 0.72 billion).
