The government is on the verge of implementing a new technology that would enable a single tax-inclusive bill for all goods, services and transactions in India. This "e-way bill" will cover the entire country, including states like Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh that don't issue paper bills.
This e-way bill will be generated by an online portal, which will be issued to every empanelled transporter and vendor who's in possession of electronic devices like smartphones or digital credit cards. The cost incurred by the government in developing this portal is expected to be around ₹250 crore ($34 million).

The important thing is that the supplier will also need to make this bill for the transit of those things which are not within the purview of GST. This bill gives the details of the supplier, transport and recipients. If the goods which are moving from one state to another or within the same state and its price is more than Rs. 50,000 then the supplier (s) will have to register their information in the GSTN portal. This bill is valid for how many days it is made after the bill is created. If a movement of goods is up to 100 km, then the bill is valid only for one day. If its movement is between 100 to 300 KMs then the bill will be valid for 3 days, 5 days for 300 to 500 KMs, 10 days for 500 to 1000 KMs and for more than 1000 KMs of movement for 15 days. Under this bill, the seller (the seller of the item) has to provide information about which item he is selling, the person purchasing will have to provide information on the GSTIN portal that he has either bought the goods or has it rejected. However, if you do not answer, it will be assumed that you have accepted the item. Suppose that the vehicle from which the goods are being transported from one state to another, if it is a victim of an accident then in this case you will have to generate a new bill after transferring the goods to another vehicle. When you (vendor) upload e-bill on GSTN portal, a unique e-number number (EBN) will be generated. This will be for the supplier, transport and recipients. Let the transporter have to make a consolidated bill if many companies are getting the goods in a truck. Inside the bill, the contents of all the companies should have different details.
