Educational psychology is the branch of psychology concerned with the scientific study of human learning. The study of learning processes, from both cognitive and behavioral perspectives, allows researchers to understand individual differences in intelligence, cognitive development, affect, motivation, self-regulation, and self-concept, as well as their role in learning. The field of educational psychology relies heavily on quantitative methods, including testing and measurement, to enhance educational activities related to instructional design, classroom management, and assessment, which serve to facilitate learning processes in various educational settings across the lifespan

Education is sharing of information which happens through a medium of communicaton between the learner and the teacher. To convert the informatioin into knowledge or skill and ultiimately progress to expertise or wisdom, it is in the hands of the teacher to guide the learner in the correct path. When a person chooses to become a qualified teacher and sets on to do a bachelor in education, one of the subject taught is child psychology. This refers to the learning behaviour of the potential learner. It equips the potential teacher essential skill to identify the learner's needs, the kind of learner(auditory, visual, kinesthetic or a combination), the emotional and social behaviour and the cultural and family background of the learner. This skill enables the teacher to deliver the content in an interesting way and the whole process of learning and teaching more enjoyable and fruitful for the learner.
