A polyamorous relationship is having multiple relationships openly. That means you can have more than one partner at a single time with your partner’s consent. It’s completely an individual’s choice to have such a relationship. The majority of people believe in one relationship and one commitment for their whole life. But some people think that one person cannot fulfill all their desires in a relationship and that’s why they go for many to satisfy his/her needs. Polyamory is also called consensual non-monogamy. It’s called so because non-monogamy means having more than one partner and consensual because the relationships will start with consents from both the partners. From a case study in the USA, it has been found that 4-8% of people are in a polyamorous relationship. Polyamory and swinging are completely different. Also, it is not the same as polygamy as polygamy is a completely different thing where a person can get married multiple times.
Polyamory has six different types which include Triad (relationship with three people), Quad (relationship with four-person), Polycule (relationship in a network), Kitchen Table Polyamory (relationship with your closed ones), Parallel Polyamory (a relationship where you know each other’s partner but do not have any contact), Solo Polyamory (a relationship where no one shares personal information). The practice of polyamory prevents you from cheating your partner and vice versa. But besides, it's also true that in polyamory also, your partner or partners can cheat on you by keeping secrets. If a person is in a polyamorous relationship, then he/she should have some particular set of rules and boundaries in their relationship completely different from a monogamous relationship. Polyamory has still not been legalized. The only purpose of polyamory is to spread love, not cheating, and communication.
