What is poultry?

Poultry includes birds like, Chicken, Hen, Ducks, Geese and Turkey, commonly known as fowls. These birds are good source of animal food in the form of eggs and meat. The place where poultry are reared on large scale are called poultry farms.

Fowl lay eggs and sit on the eggs for about 21 days. This period is called hatching period. After this period, the eggs crack and the chicks come out. The process during incubation is called natural hatching. During hatching, the poultry provides the necessary moisture and warmth to the eggs. In big poultry farms hatching is done in incubators. The temperature moisture in incubators are controlled.

Poultry requires good care for food, shelter and disease control.
