The challenge became widely criticized because detergent pods contain toxic chemicals that can cause serious health problems, including poisoning.

Many people blamed social media culture and the pressure to create shocking content for views and likes. Companies and health authorities had to issue warnings because the trend became so widespread online. Honestly, it became an example of how dangerous viral internet challenges can become when people prioritize attention and trends over basic safety.

Well, it’s another ridiculous online challenge taken up by teenagers around the world. The task is to bite a liquid laundry detergent packet, or cook the detergent on the fry pans and then chew it before spitting.

Needless to say, this is extremely dangerous that puts the lives of those doing it at risk. More and more teenagers are doing it, and posting their videos on video sharing platforms.

While YouTube has already taken proactive measures to bring down such disturbing graphics, you will still find them over internet. (Caution: Don’t watch them. They are disturbing and scarring.)

How this challenge picked up is still not clear. But it’s alarming how a miscreant and criminal can easily influence and brainwash the teenagers on Internet. We’re still not past the stigma that Blue Whale Game left in the homes of thousands.

Only few weeks back, another challenge was making rounds on the social media where teenagers poured salt and ice on their hands together and held until it starts to burn. Another challenge was to throw boiling water on unsuspecting friends.

At such times, it’s important that parents keep a strict watch on their kids (without intruding); know what they are up to and what they are doing over internet. If things are looking shady, they should definitely opt for child counseling.
