Ketogenic diet or Keto diet is gaining a lot of popularity these days. This is said to be a low-carb and high-fat diet, which is helpful in weight-loss, diabetes, and epilepsy. The diet is also beneficial for the patients of cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.
The mechanism of Ketogenic diet involves 2-7 days of following a particular eating routine which has low carbohydrates. After this, your body undergoes a state called Ketosis, in which the body doesn’t have enough carbohydrates for cells to produce energy. When this happens, your body automatically starts creating Ketones, which are the organic compounds used by your body to produce energy. Body also burns fat in the case of lack of carbs for energy.
Apart from law carb vegetables, the food that can be taken when you are on a Ketogenic diet include:
• Seafood: Fishes like salmon, clams, mussels, octopus, oysters, and squid.
• Avocados: They are high in minerals and vitamins, and also contains a fair amount of potassium.
• Meat and Poultry: When on a ketogenic diet, meat and poultry become your staple food.
