The thyroid gland produces the hormones that control the body’s metabolism. It helps regulate how fast or slow your body uses energy, controls weight, body temperature, and even heart rate. If the thyroid doesn’t work properly, metabolism can become too fast or too slow, leading to health problems.

The gland that produces the hormones that control the body’s metabolism is the thyroid gland.

The thyroid gland is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located in the front of your neck. It releases important hormones called T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine). These hormones help control how your body uses energy. This process is known as metabolism.

Metabolism affects many important body functions such as:

  • How fast you burn calories

  • Your heart rate

  • Body temperature

  • Weight management

  • Energy levels

If the thyroid produces too much hormone, it can cause hyperthyroidism, which may lead to weight loss, fast heartbeat, and anxiety. If it produces too little hormone, it can cause hypothyroidism, leading to weight gain, tiredness, and slow metabolism.

In simple words, the thyroid gland is the main gland responsible for controlling your body’s metabolism.
