In the year 1998, the Nobel Prize for Economics was won by Amartya Sen. He is an Indian economist, as well as a philosopher who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics for his contributions to the welfare and betterment in the field of economic sciences. Amartya Sen is most famously known for the development of some more sophisticates measures of dealing with poverty, as well as, for his work on the causes and solutions of famines. His work has been influenced by some of the most famous economists and philosophers like Martha Nussbaum, John Rawls, Adam Smith, and many other such economists and philosophers.
