The Mount on the Oystermouth Railway (later referred to as the Swansea and Mumbles) in Swansea, Wales, was the world's first recorded railroad station , which began passenger service in 1807, but the trains were horse-drawn instead of engines. On May 22, 1830, the two-story Mount Clare station in Baltimore, Maryland, which now is a museum, saw passenger service for the primary time because the terminal of the horse-drawn Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The initial stations were sparsely equipped with buildings and services. The Liverpool and Manchester Railway, which opened in 1830, had the primary stations within the modern sense.
