Independent India was born after losing its parts with pain during partition. Our mother land underwent unthinkable sufferings and grievances during pre independence time. All our leaders contributed something or other to India’s growth and development. So it is difficult to pick only 3. Let us talk about all those Prime Ministers who left some marks in the history of India.

Jawaharlal Nehru – He was the India’s first Prime Minister. After independence he was burdened with huge responsibility in his shoulder. Nehru was considered as the architect of Modern India. At that time Indian economy was in vulnerable state. He improved our economy. He abolished so many social evils. Indian constitution was framed in his period with his help. But he is criticised for handling Kashmir issue.

Lal Bahadur Shastri – He was people’s Prime Minister. Famous for his agricultural movement and Jai Jawan jai kisan slogan. White revolution was possible with his initialisation. Agricultural production started to increase and gradually India’s hunger index started to improve.

Indira Gandhi – Iron lady, Indira Gandhi was famous for her courage, winning of India Pakistan war of 1971. Her 20 point programme was very attractive in development point of view.
Internationally also she was considered as the strongest PM of India.

Dr. Manmohan Singh -  He was a great economist rather than a great PM. His policies on economics was a boon to India. Liberalisation was a key factor in 90s to improve GDP of India. It industry was flourished in his tenure. R.T.I was introduced when he was Prime Minister.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee – Considered as one of the greatest and honest Prime Minister of India. Nuclear testing at Pokhran and Winning of Kargil war are some of the flowers in his cap.

Narendra Modiji – He is considered as the toughest and strong PM of India. Terrorism is under control in India and relations with our neighbours are improving. His schemes to help poor are appreciated.

As I said earlier it is tough to select 3 only. According to your choices pick up any 3.
