Summer is celebration time, not only for children but for the tennis lovers also. The 4 grand slam tournaments are Australian open, French Open, Wimbledon & US open. 3 out of 4 Grand slams are played one by one during this time of the year. French open is going on now and the shocker of the year is Novak Djokovic's exit from French open. Italy's Marco Cecchinato beat him to reach the semi-finals in Paris.
Tennis lovers are entertained by so many players, both in singles and doubles. Singles are more attractive than doubles but on tougher point of view , watching tennis doubles are more exciting. We are going to analyze some of the great pairs of tennis grand slams.
Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver - Now at 61 Navratilova is the only player to have held the No.1 position both in singles and doubles for 200 weeks. Her partnership with American Pam Shriver in 1981 was one of the most fruitful doubles partnerships of all time. The pair have 21 doubles major titles and they won 79 out of 104 tournaments they participated.
Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan - The Bryan brother are the most successful pairs of doubles of all time. They were in No.1 ranking for 438 weeks. They accumulated 112 titles of 167 finals. At 38 they are still at No.2 in doubles tournament.
Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi - Paes and Bhupathi are our own stars . They were responsible for putting India in the map of tennis. From 1997 to 2002 they won 3 major titles. If their relations were good we could have won so many titles. They reunited during 2011 for a small spell and unable to continue.
Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis - The Indo-Swiss pair was our hope in the Tennis world before their split last year. Even in last year they broke the record of the well known pair in women's doubles Gigi Fernandez and Natasha Zvereva, on their 29th consecutive win. Over 16 months their winning streak was 41 matches with 3 grand slams and 9 WTP titles. Their partnership came to an end last year.
Williams sisters - Serena Williams and Venus Williams sisters are ruling the tennis world both in singles and doubles. Serena Williams alone has 23 grand slams singles title and Venus won 7 grand slam title till last year. But together they amassed 19 grand slam trophy. They may touch more heights as they didn't retire from tennis.
