McDonald's was not invented by a single person, but rather by two brothers, Richard McDonald, and Maurice McDonald. In 1940, the brothers opened a small drive-in restaurant in San Bernardino, California, which they called McDonald's Bar-B-Q. They developed an innovative system for preparing food quickly and efficiently, which they called the "Speedee Service System". This system became the foundation for the fast-food industry as we know it today.
In 1954, Ray Kroc, a milkshake machine salesman, approached the McDonald brothers about franchising their restaurant. Kroc saw the potential for McDonald's to become a national and even global brand, and he worked tirelessly to expand the company, eventually buying out the McDonald brothers in 1961 and taking control of the company.
