Who was Chandro Tomar the Shooter Dadi?

Chandro Tomar who is popularly known as “Shooter Dadi" was a sharpshooter from a smallvillage in Uttar Pradesh. She was born on 10 th January 1932 at Shamli village in U.P. She gotmarried in Johri village in Bagpat district in Uttar Pradesh. She got married at the age of 15and never got a chance to go to school. She is known as Shooter Dadi because of herexcellent and sharpshooting skills. She started learning to shoot when she was in her 60s.Many people discouraged him along with her husband and her brother and were against herparticipation in the shooting competition. Her daughter and granddaughter encouraged hera lot and also started learning to shoot.

Once in a sports club where her granddaughter usedto learn shooting, Tomar took a pistol and made a shot which surprised the coach namedFarooq Pathan as it was so perfect. The coach offers to join the club and learn to shootwhich she did. That one shot changed her whole life and unknowingly she became aninspiration for all the women who want to achieve something in life. She has five childrenand twelve grandchildren. She won over 25 state and many larger championships all overIndia. Also, she won a gold medal at Veteran Shooting Championship which was organized inChennai. Not only she but her granddaughters also won several medals all over India and

also took part in international level in Hungary and Germany. Chandro Tomar took her lastbreath in a Hospital located in Meerut. She passed away on 30th April 2021 due to Covid-19 at the age of 89. She became a true inspirationand also gave us a message that if u has that fire in you to achieve success in life then age isnot a factor.
