Why are the Indian television shows so dumb?

Thank goodness that someone asked this! Finally, I can rant about Indian television shows which are getting as illogical as they can get with the passing years.

No wonder the youth today is more inclined towards web series, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. There is not much that Indian television offers these days, except sheer dumbness and fantastical scenarios which are hard to digest even as imaginary (I’m sure you are picturizing Simran being transformed as a fly right now).

Anyhow, much of this stupidity, hard-to-laugh-at comedy, circus-like costumes, and unbelievable settings and scenarios is to the credit of the likes of Ekta Kapoor where Mihir had more lives than even a cat and Komolika’s make-up was more like a joker than a vamp. Well, those television shows are still revered because they were at least better than what we have now.

Simran turning into a Makkhi! This is what they are serving and we are consuming! Even if we say that a large percentage of audience of these television shows consists of house wives and old ladies, it would still be hard to believe that even a mind confined into the domestic realms for the major part of the day can have such a low IQ so as to be satisfied with the lead heroines getting transformed into flies, snakes, and whatnot. But sadly, this is the truth!

Even Sonpari and Shaka Laka Boom Boom used to be more logical than these shows.

And if we talk about reality shows, well, I would just like to say that they have a better script than the actually fictional daily soaps. No matter it is Bigg Boss, Dance Plus, Splitsvilla or Roadies.

The answer to your question, according to me, is that people (who have not yet turned their back to TV for web series), tend to like such degraded fantasy and stale imagination.
