Pakistani political scenario has experienced a huge turmoil as the former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and handed an £8 million ($10.5 million) fine over corruption charges related to his family's purchase of overseas properties.
Zahid Hussain, a Pakistani journalist states that the verdict has marked the "the end of the Sharif political dynasty”. No member of the Sharif family was present during the court as Nawaz Sharif’s wife is in a hospital in London.
The consequence of the verdict have started showing their effects. As per the reports, there has been demoralization amongst the PMLN candidates. Sharif was asked to resign as the Prime Minister last year in July and he is condemned to participate in the politics of Pakistan for coming years.
According to the now leader of PMLN and Sharif’s brother, Shahbaz Sharif, "The decision is flawed, politically motivated and has glaring loopholes."
Right now the return of the Sharif family from London is being awaited as all of their property in London is to be confiscated.
