Drug overdose among celebrities isn’t something new. The latest in the line is, unexpectedly, Demi Lovato. As TMZ reported, Demi was transported from her home in Hollywood Hills to local hospital at about 11:40 am on Tuesday in what seems to be a possible case of drug overdose.

In a statement, a rep of Demi Lovato has said that the singer is awake and talking to her family. And, of course, they would respect some privacy.

Why do these celebrities get hook up with drugs is quite complex to put into a few words! We’ve heard the infamous story of Eminem and how he nearly lost his life in 2007 due to overdose. (He’s been sober for more than 10 years now by the way!) Celebrities like Lindsay Lohan, Heath Ledger (died due to prescription drugs), Michael Jackson (died) Brittany Murphy (died of intoxication), Charlie Sheen, Russell Brand and so many more—these big names struggle or have struggled at one-time of their career with *****, ***** and more. All are famous, all the successful, yet, somehow, drugs took away the whole or a large part of their lives.

Again, why celebrities, especially like Demi Lovato – so young and successful – end up with drugs is hard to explain. Some overdose to combat the depression that comes with fame, others inject to feel confident to perform in front of the crowd. Many take drugs to fight back anxiety and stress. And then, of course, there are many who do drug because that’s the only way they know how to be in the headlines and earn money from raunchy and absurd interviews.

All being said though, indeed, more often than not, getting on the drug is one’s own decision. But that doesn’t mean that we blame the celebrities for making this decision if something bad befalls on them. Because getting unhooked to drugs is extremely difficult. So, it’s important that in their bad days, instead of being mean and indifferent towards their lifestyle, we show them the support and encourage them to make better choices and go on a rehab.

Hopefully, the drug overdose situation with Demi Lovato gets better and she gets on a better path much strongly.
