His guerilla warfare and fresh military strategies are well known facts that made him earn such titles as Father of Indian Navy and Mountain Rat on account of outmanoeuvring much larger armies.


Secondly, Shivaji Maharaj is exalted because of his commitment to Dharma along with religious tolerance. For all faiths he used to show respect earning his kingdom an image of religious harmony.
