The simplest answer for your question would be to say that that’s because it was the only humble celebrity wedding of 2018. Anyone would be shocked if one of the best sportsperson ties the knot with her longtime beau secretly when they are going-gaga over overrated big fat weddings of other stars.

The wedding craze in the world of famous personalities and celebrities from India started with the expensive destination wedding of Deepika and Ranveer, which was followed by the cross-cultural “religious mash up” of Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, and reached its height with the wedding-cum-world celeb festival of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal.

Amongst all this, there was married one more celebrity couple without posting their wedding cards on internet, without having a pre-wedding bash with Beyoncé’s performance, and without taking over the social media. It was the former World Badminton Champion Saina Nehwal, and the Commonwealth Games gold medallist Parupalli Kashyap who tied the knot in a private ceremony, with all the traditional Telugu ceremonies. It was when Nehwal tweeted the photo of herself with the husband with the caption “Best match of life”, that the world got to know about this celebrity couple.

Just like the ceremony, the outfits of both bride and groom were simplistic and (ahem-ahem) non-Sabyasachi. Nehwal wore a powder blue Lehenga, which was as beautiful as it was elegant with a baby pink chunri. P Kashyap matched his outfit with the bride and appeared in a pink asymmetrical kurta with a waistcoat.
Now that was an example of how to be humble and yet stay classy during celebrations despite having a lot of money, popularity, and influence.
