Hima Das has now become India’s fastest female quarter-miler. Not only this, she has recently been crowned as the World U-20 champion in women’s 400m.
She however, won’t be participating in the mixed-relay at Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta. According to the national coach, Basant Singh, the time gap between the 200 m and the mixed relay is very short, and it will not allow her to take part in both. So she would rather focus on the individual competition, than preparing for the mixed-relay.
Hindustan Times reports, “India are defending champions in women’s 4x400m relay and the coach believes her presence in the team will make a big difference”. Right now Hima Das is on a break, after the world meet in which she won the gold for India. Now she will directly participate in the Asian Games 2018, and will also anchor the women’s relay.
